Wilfred Elvin Francis, 70 years of age and a longtime Harborite, died on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Aberdeen, Wash.

Wilfred Elvin Francis, 70 years of age and a longtime Harborite, died on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Aberdeen, Wash. He was born on Aug. 9, 1946, in Harrison Mills, British Columbia, Canada to Vincent and Velma Alice (Thompson) Francis.

He spent his early years in the Chehalis, British Columbia, Canada area. As a youth he attended the area Catholic Churches.

The family moved to the North Bend, Wash. area where he graduated from the Mount Si High School in 1964. While attending school he played football and ran track.

Wilfred Elvin Francis was married to Linda Michell on Feb. 27, 1970, in Rosedale, British Columbia, Canada. They moved to Aberdeen, Wash. and were later divorced.

He had worked in the logging industry since high school. He started at the bottom and worked his way up to shovel operator and worked for various independent logging outfits.

His travels had taken him all over the Pacific Northwest and to various annual festivals with his family.

He loved his job as a logger, but, would fish off of the jetty after work. His other spare time was spent working on cars while he listened to music. One of his favorite things to do was to just go cruising all around in his car. He will long be remembered for his witty attitude, his strong personality and his love and devotion to his family.

Wilfred Elvin Francis is survived by his sons, Elvin Edwin Francis and Jamie Elvin Francis both of Hoquiam; his daughters, Velma Alice Francis of Hoquiam and Denise Sue Point of Agassiz, British Columbia, Canada; his brothers, Patrick Edwin Francis of Ocean Shores and Dennis Duaine Francis Sr. of Aberdeen; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and other relatives.

An Indian Shaker Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the Coleman Mortuary Chapel with Agnes Pearl Buck officiating. The service concluded at the Coleman Chapel with private inurnment to be held later in Canada.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam.
