Stanley M. Antich passed away in Olympia on March 19, 2023. Stan was born in Aberdeen on July 21, 1937, to Croatian parents Stanley M. and Rose Antich. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from J.M. Weatherwax High School. At the age of 4 years old, Stan was enrolled in accordion lessons. Over the years, Stan would continue to play his accordion entertaining family and friends at Christmas with sing-along with Stanko in his native Slavic language.

On June 14, 1958, Stanley married Judy Blumberg in Aberdeen where they raised three children. Stan supported youth baseball with many years of flipping burgers at the concessions at Pioneer Park. He spent most of his career at Harbor Battery where he was known as ‘Stan the battery man’.

Stan was very proud of his Croatian heritage, was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, and enjoyed attending the annual Tamburitza Extravaganza and the Seattle CFU lodge picnics where lamb, pig, and Croatian music were abundant. A highlight of their travels, Stan and Judy visited Krasica, Croatia and his father’s childhood home.

After retiring, Stan joined the Ocean Shores Golf Course where he played a daily round of golf and after his round, his golf cart may have been spotted a time or two at the Elks Club. He spent many years planning his class reunions and staying in contact with classmates. Stan and Judy would travel to Palm Springs every winter where they enjoyed their many gatherings with friends, a daily swim, golf, and Tony’s Restaurant.

Stan is survived by his wife Judy, sons Jeff (Kris), Craig, daughter Luanne Nugent (Jeff), grandchildren Patrick Nugent (Chloe), Connor Antich, Campbelle Antich, and his brother Jim (Sharon) Antich. His family thanks his physician Dr. Klein, and the staff at Fieldstone for the excellent care Stan received.
