Ruth Gavareski’s family would like to correct an omission of two extremely important aspects of her life that were inadvertently left out of her obituary .

The first was her love for and dedication to her students and teaching. During her 33+ years of teaching, Ruth thoroughly enjoyed working with her students, both in the classroom and through their writings.

All literary works were fascinating to her and she loved imparting them to her English students. Her classroom was her home away from home and a huge part of her life.

Second was her longtime membership in the Aberdeen/Grays Harbor YMCA.

Ruth really liked going to the Y. She attended many exercise classes, especially her favorite, Water Aerobics which she often attended five days a week.

She was also a member of the Y Council and enjoyed serving on it. She met a lot of nice people at the Y, many who became her friends.

Ruth often credited the Y and their programs as a reason she was able to maintain such good health.
