Robert William Randich

Robert William Randich passed away on May 7, 2021.

With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and friend, Robert William Randich. Brother Bob to his siblings and UB to his nieces and nephews, passed away on May 7, 2021 in his family home at the age of 92.

Bob was born on Dec. 23, 1928 in Aberdeen to Joseph Marion Randich and Clara Viola Johnson Randich. He attended Weatherwax High School and graduated in 1948. During his high school years, he worked for Harbor Hardware. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army and served along side his brother David in the Korean War. After returning home from the war he began working for his father’s concrete business, JM Randich & Sons. Bob would work alongside his father and brothers, Don and Dave until the business closed in 1985.

Bob was the secretary for the Aberdeen Eagles for several years and also belonged to the 40 & 8, the American Legion, the Footprinters Association and was a 50 year member of the NRA.

He loved nothing more than to spend time at his float house on the North River. He hunted for deer and elk in Canada having to get to the hunting cabin by horseback. Bob had a love for Louis L’amour Western novels and he watched many a Western movie in his day. Although he wasn’t an avid golfer, he did achieve the ever allusive hole in one!

After he retired, he found joy in woodworking and could often be found in his workshop in the basement making one-of-a-kind tables, chairs and other treasures that he would gift to family members.

But above all, Bob fiercely loved his family. Although he had no children of his own, his nieces and nephews meant the world to him as did his siblings. The family home where he lived his entire life was the gathering place for many a holiday and too many to count cocktail hours!

Bob is survived by his brother Don (Barbara) Randich, sisters: Shirley Morgan, Emmy Lou Mierzwa, Clara Garley, Virginia Scholls and a sister by love, Carleen Randich along with numerous nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara Randich, sisters Catherine Hannick and Lorraine Aldrich and brother, David Randich.

A special thanks and love is to be given to nephews Bobby Randich and Payton Campbell and nieces Stephanie Campbell and Kim Bridges for their selfless love, support and aid in their uncle’s time of need.

A graveside memorial will be held later this summer for Bob and his sister Catherine.

We will miss our UB tremendously, but we know he is up there with a scotch and soda in his hand lighting up the heavens with his kindness and wit. We didn’t want you to leave us, but as you would say — “It tis what it tis.”
