Paul Robert Wood, 67, died Dec. 15, 2021, surrounded by his circle of loved ones in his home. He died from a diagnosis of stage IV lung cancer, which was detected by his doctor just one week prior to his passing.

Paul was born July 3, 1954, in Chehalis, Washington. Paul was raised in Castle Rock, Washington. He raised his family in Cosmopolis, Washington where he resided for 45 years. He graduated from Castle Rock High School, class of 1972.

Paul was a wonderful businessman, serving 31 years as store manager of Pay-N-Save (Wishkah Mall), turned Payless, turned Riteaid. His second career was serving 12 years as a salesman for Five Star Ford Dealership. Paul could make friends with anyone, and was known for his kind soul, patient temperament, and sense of humor.

As a youth, Paul attended Castle Rock Methodist Church and was baptized alongside his brother, Garry.

Paul’s passion throughout many years of his life was the love for the outdoors. He was a natural at hunting and fishing, and spent his favorite moments at his “secret” fishing and hunting locations, most of which was shared with his best friend, Brad Caton. Paul also enjoyed golfing at Highlands.

In Paul’s recent years, he loved spending time traveling with his love, Sheela. They took many trips to Palm Springs, Chelan and Port Townsend. They enjoyed trips to casinos and shared many good times and laughs — he will be tremendously missed.

Paul lived genuinely and shaped his children into the adults they are today. His daughter Jenny describes Paul as a man of integrity; he looked out for everyone, yet expected the least in return. He was the one to call for absolutely anything, and was the easiest to talk to, laugh with and share stories. He left the conversation, always with a hug and kiss. He was known as “Papa Paul” to his beloved grandsons Blake and Cam.

Paul’s stepson Noah shares “Paul was the biggest inspiration in my life. He raised me from the time I was 2 years old, he made me the man I am today. I am more than thankful to have such a blessed soul in my life. Everyday we saw each other and talked about our days. He always made sure I was taken care of. This man has done everything for me no matter what, ups and downs, he always looked out for me.”

Paul is survived by his girlfriend, Sheela Wieland; daughter Jenny Rogich (T.J.) of Central Park; stepsons Cole Allison of Aberdeen, Noah Allison of Cosmopolis; two grandchildren Blake Rogich (8) and Camron Rogich (5) of Central Park; brother Garry Wood of Castle Rock; and his beagle dog, Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents; father Harold Eugene Wood and mother Orie Sylvia Wood (Glen).

Memorials may be sent to the Cosmopolis Lions Club.

Paul requested no service. There will be a remembrance set up in his office at Five Star Ford to view memories of Paul, for his beloved customers. A celebration of life is to be announced by the family at a later date.
