Nancy Diane Root passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Facility.

Diane was born on June 12, 1935, in Shelton, Washington to Arthur Chesley and Maude Hilda (Enlow) Pringle and is survived by older sister Joan Gambee, younger brother Rhodes Pringle, younger sister Carol Wall and many nieces, nephews and extended family

Diane is survived by her sons: Don Elliott (Liz) and Steve Elliott (Lise), bonus daughter Susan Graham (Steve), six grandkids and 11 great-grandkids — along with so many kids/friends of grandkids that see her as grandma.

Diane was a longtime resident, beloved teacher and friend to many in Hoquiam. Through the many encounters with former first graders, we’ve seen what an amazing impact she made from her many years as a teacher. She will be missed in many circles including family, friends, teachers, fellow church members and neighbors.

She enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Her trips included Maui, Danube River Boat trip, Italy, San Francisco, Ireland, China and London. When not staying with Steve and Lise in Hoquiam, she enjoyed long visits with Don and Liz in Idaho; Susan and Steve in North Dakota; and sister Joan in Oregon.

She had a special ability to develop deep relationships. The family has heard from so many people who have broken hearts like we do right now. Her life has added so much joy to so many lives.

She has requested that there be no formal services and would prefer donations to charity. She supported Disabled American Veterans, Hoquiam Food and Clothing Bank, Immanuel Baptist Church in Hoquiam and Mission Aviation Fellowship.
