Marilyn Lamb Hart died June 8, 2020, in Olympia, Washington. Marilyn was preceded in passing by her husband, John L. Hart.

Marilyn’s only child, Alice-Elizabeth Hart, cared lovingly for her mother in her final years, supported by her grandson Jonathan Carpenter of Lexington, Kentucky.

Marilyn was born in Hoquiam, Washington, in 1929 to Ruth Bergstrom Lamb and George Emerson Lamb. She adored her grandparents, Axel and Adar Bergstrom and Frank and Alice Lamb. Marilyn was proud of her Swedish heritage from the Bergstroms, and had a love of the forest and nature from the Lamb’s.

She married John Hart in 1951 and they lived a full life together. She worked at the Lamb companies and he worked for the State Highway Department, where he was involved in almost every major transportation project in Grays Harbor.

Marilyn and John loved and shared adventure. Special memories are of piling family members in the back of their VW Beetle and charging up and up into the Olympics to visit forest fire lookouts. They also enjoyed many trips to Carmel, California visiting artists and friends.

Marilyn and John’s home in Hoquiam was an architectural beauty nestled in the forest by Circle Drive. At Christmas the house was full of Swedish tradition. They would choose a potted tree, each year a different species, then add it, planted in the abundant forest.

Marilyn loved her siblings, Alice Elizabeth Lamb, Ruth Lamb Schmidt, Frank H. Lamb II, and David Emerson Lamb. Throughout their lives together they spent much time enjoying the wonderful activities of the Northwest.

Marilyn thrived on friendship, whether it was the Grays Harbor Woman’s Club or her family of nieces and nephews. She was admired as a steadfast pioneer of Grays Harbor, carrying the love of nature and respect for all.
