Margaret Ann Wayman, a longtime resident of Hoquiam, died on Dec. 14, 2021, at Riverside Place in Hoquiam.

Margaret Ann Wayman, age 89, a longtime resident of Hoquiam, died on Dec. 14, 2021, at Riverside Place in Hoquiam. Mrs. Wayman was born on March 31, 1932, in Iredell, Texas to parents I.D. Hurt and Clyde (Tillenghost) Hurt. She was raised in West Texas and had attended local schools.

As a young woman, she moved to Hoquiam where she met Carrol Wayman and on June 6, 1954, was married at the First Christian Church of Hoquiam. She started working at National Bank of Commerce in Aberdeen where she met many lifelong friends. She left the bank to raise her family. She later returned to banking at the First Interstate Bank in Hoquiam where she met another group of lifelong friends.

A very large part of her life was her church, where she was an active member. She enjoyed quilting there. She and Carrol also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her four sons and their wives: Edward John Wayman and Sue of Hoquiam, Ronald Brian Wayman and Sandra of Peoria, Arizona, Kenneth Stuart Wayman and Meryem of Maple Valley and Gary Allen Wayman and Suzanne of Pullman; six grandchildren: Jeff, Joey, Whitney, Karmen, Amelia and Ewan; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Jo Cook. Three brothers, Irvin, Clyde and John died previously.

A celebration of life is being planned for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at the United Christian Church in Aberdeen. A private urn committal will be held at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the United Christian Church of Aberdeen, 300 W 1st, Aberdeen, WA 98520; or the Carroll J. Wayman Scholarship Fund, C/O Hoquiam School District Office, 325 W. Chenault, Hoquiam, WA 98550.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
