Kenneth Franklin Spaur, a long time Hoquiam resident, passed away on March 17th, 2024, at the Peace Health Hospice Center in Longview, Washington, surrounded by family and friends.

Ken was born on January 26th, 1938, in Hoquiam, Washington to Thomas Jackson Spaur and Mabel Lillian (Thompson) Spaur.

Ken married Jenneva Popavac on December 26th, 1970. They were married until her death in 2009.

Ken was preceded in death by brothers: Raymond, Melvin, Thomas, William, Edward, Robert and Elmer and sisters: June and Mabel. Ken was the youngest of ten children. He and Jenneva had no children, but Ken is survived by many nieces and nephews, who live throughout Washington State.

The Spaur family home was located along the banks of the Wishkah River. This is where Ken spent his childhood. He worked for many years, until his retirement, with the City of Aberdeen Maintenance Department.

Ken lived in Hoquiam most of his life, briefly moving to Utah, with his wife, but returning back to Hoquiam, within a few years.

Ken moved to Assisted Living in Longview, a few months back, to be closer to family, so they could help with his care.

Ken was an Honorary Life Member of the Hoquiam Elks. In his 41 years, Ken served as Exalted Ruler (1991-1992) and many other Board positions and Public Service capacities, associated with the Elks. He often shared, with his family, how much enjoyment he had, being an Elk member.

Ken was a loving and caring man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved playing cards and board games, as well listening to Country Music. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held April 20th, 2024, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hoquiam Elks, 624 K Street, Hoquiam, Washington.
