Julianne (Haag) Doyle passed away April 23, 2023, in Aberdeen, Washington.

Julianne (Haag) Doyle passed away April 23, 2023, in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born July 13, 1935, in Bismarck, North Dakota to Veronica (Braun) and George Haag.

During her early years, she lived in North Dakota, Longview and Hoquiam, graduating from Hoquiam High School in 1953. In December 1954, she received her LPN license from the North Dakota licensing board. She met her husband, Terry Doyle, at the Harborena Skating Rink later that month. They were married Feb 24, 1955. They settled in Johns River in Markham, Washington where they owned and operated the Doyle Shake Mill.

Julie loved baking. She would help anyone who needed baked goods for a function or fundraiser or bake just to have something at the house. She also loved canning. Many fond memories were made at the cannery in Aberdeen, then later in the kitchen canning everything from jam and jelly to fruit and vegetables (from her own garden), to tuna and salmon.

Clam digging was also on her list of favorite activities. She was an avid photographer, taking historical photographs of family and places she visited. She loved going on adventures, especially with family at her side. She encouraged family to join her on her many excursions. She took cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean and road trips to visit relatives and friends from Idaho to Minnesota to California and everywhere in between. She even took a trip to Thailand with her brother and sister to visit family. She also loved to go camping.

Julie and Terry purchased a lot at Wynoochee Wildwood when it first opened and spent many summers camping with family. In June 2021, after her health required her to slow down, family came to visit her. She was never without family at her side. This included her dogs. She had many favorites including Oliver, her current companion.

Raising her children was her full time job outside keeping the books for the shake mill. Julie was a member of the Ocosta Fire Department and the Fire Ladies. She was a scout leader for her sons while they were in the scouting program. She was a member of the VFW in Westport. Julie worked on the Election Board for over 50 years. After her children were grown, she worked as a maid at Canterbury West (now known as the Chateau Westport), caregiving for the elderly in Westport and Aberdeen and Boat Detailing at the Westport Shipyard. As the grandchildren arrived, she could be found babysitting, playing games, teaching them how to cook, helping with their homework or watching them play sports. Taking an adventure with anyone who wanted to travel was a high priority as well. Family was her life!

Julie is survived by her brother and sister, Norman and Eileen, her seven children: Doug, Dan, Mike, Debbie (Scott) Bergen, Gary (Adrian), Steven and Jerry (Bambi), her 14 grandchildren: Jennifer, Nicole, Brandon, Sarah, Cassie, Nathaniel, Stephanie, Max, Jacob, Caleb, Katie, Hailee, Ashlee and Avree, and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Terry, her brother Jerry and her grandson Justin.

A celebration of life will be held at the Ocosta Recreation Hall on Saturday, July 29 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Westport VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Seattle Children’s Hospital or the Ocosta Recreation Hall.
