Joe Camenzind Ill, passed away at age 88, on Sept 23, 2020. He was born in South Bend, Washington, on July 11, 1932. He was married 66 years to Eleanor (Jacobsen) Camenzind. He was the son of J.A. Camenzind and Jonnie Mae (Plemmons) Camenzind. He had one sister, Jane Smith. He has three children: Terri (Camenzind) Newman (Pat), J.R. Camenzind (Kris), Mark Camenzind (Cindy), 11 grandchildren: Carly (Newman) Jenkins (Keenan), Jake Newman (Kendall), Adam Newman (Lexi), Katie (Newman) Languel (Arron), Cassie Hansen (Cohen), Buddy Arnett (Shayna), Dane Camenzind, Grant Camenzind, Joshua Camenzind, Erica Bordner and Brian Bordner.

He also had six great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Harrison, Anna, Jersey, Parker, Nova Skye and a little girl due in four weeks.

Joe loved life, his farm and his family. He farmed until the last week of his life He helped vaccinate calves, was on his tractor cleaning up weeds, on his mule (golf cart) chasing calves into the corral and riding around in the farm truck.

He had a unique sense of humor, so many life-long friends of all ages. He was funny, lovable. He would always say “You’re welcome as the flowers in May.”

One day when he was joking around I asked one of his grandsons, what he thought grandpa was like when he was young and he said “I don’t know but I think I would like to have hung out with him.” No better compliment than that.

He had a wonderful family. He loved them all, no favorites, and they all loved him. He loved my sister and brother-in-law and all of their family too.

He served in the military from 1952 to 1954, and was in the reserves until he was discharged in 1961.

He served on many boards, was a board member of the Federal Land Bank of Chehalis, for many years, the weed board of Pacific County, the planning board of Pacific County, Soil Conservation of Pacific County and was an Elk member for 67 years.

His class that graduated with him in 1950, met at The Barge every second Tuesday of the month, and they stayed good friends. Joe has so many wonderful friends, lifetime friends forever.

We are sad we couldn’t have had a big memorial and celebration of life but due to the coronavirus, we only had graveside services for family.

Joe was loved very much by his wife and all his family

God saw you getting tired, a cure was not to be found, so he wrapped his arms around you, and whispered “come to me,”, a golden heart stopped beating, and hard working hands were laid to rest. God broke our hearts, to prove to us, God only takes the best
