Joan Darlene Waddell Oswalt, 87 years old, died in Seattle, Washington on Nov. 28, 2021.

Joan was born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Ezra Waddell and Edith Robertson Waddell.

She married Gale D. Oswalt on June 12, 1953.

Joan raised her boys in Kansas during the 1960s. The family moved to Taiwan for a year than relocated in California in 1972, moved to Reno in 1984 then finally to Ocean Shores in 1992.

Her last 20 years she lived at Brooksdale Assisted living in Ocean Shores. Her private ocean view room was very special to her and she was well cared for at the Brooksdale facility.

She fought small cell lung cancer for the past eight months. While battling cancer, she kept a wonderful upbeat attitude. She was always full of cheer and happy. She will be greatly missed.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Gale and sisters Mary and Juanita. She is survived by her three sons: Steve, Greg and Dennis; grandchildren: Amanda, Denise, Jessica, Michael, Jacqueline and Daniel, and great-granddaughter, Stephanie. She also leaves many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service was held on Dec. 4, at Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
