Jeri Ann (Jacka) Bell passed away peacefully at her home in Aberdeen, Washington on Friday, June 12, 2020, at the age of 76.

Jeri Ann (Jacka) Bell passed away peacefully at her home in Aberdeen, Washington, on Friday, June 12, 2020, at the age of 76. Jeri was born in Aberdeen to William and Louise Jacka on January 4, 1944.

Jeri was raised and attended school in Aberdeen. She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1962. She continued her education at Grays Harbor College from 1962-1964 until transferring to Western Washington University from 1964-1966, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. By 1967, Jeri had moved to Everett where she taught 2nd grade until 1969. Moving back to Aberdeen, Jeri taught grades 1st-3rd from 1969 until her retirement in 2002.

Jeri met the love of her life, Darrell Bell, and they married at the Episcopal Church in Aberdeen on June 27, 1980. Darrell and Jeri loved traveling together, especially enjoying their many cruises. Jeri also really enjoyed spending time with family, most of all her grandchildren. Jeri had a passion for teaching and was part of the teachers group, Delta Kappa Gamma. She was also in a P.E.O. chapter out of British Columbia.

Jeri was a strong, selfless, independent and loving woman. She was known by her colleagues, friends and family as an amazing giver. Jeri put others first and always helped those in need. She instilled great values in her children and was a special influence in the lives of countless others.

Jeri is survived by her husband of 39 years, Darrell Bell; her two children, Brian (Sarah) Yearout and Julie (Kelly) Niemi; brother, Alan (Joan) Jacka; grandchildren, Madilyn and Luke Niemi; and step-grandchildren, Clayton and Marshall Oldfield. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Louise Jacka and by her sister, Karen Kahler.

Memorials may be sent to the Grays Harbor Community Foundation so a memorial scholarship can be set up in her name.
