Gene Edward Amsbury of Hoquiam passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was 75. Gene was born on Jan. 20, 1942, in Everett, Wash., to Stan and Rose (Arnold) Amsbury. He was one of five children. Gene attended Clearwater Grade School before his family moved to Lake Quinault where he finished his education and graduated in 1960.

After high school, Gene joined the U.S. Army where he served four years. Most of which was spent in France. Gene then spent most of his life working in the lumber industry being employed by several companies throughout the years.

Gene is survived by his daughters Janell (Lloyd) Livingston and Yvonne (Brian) Dayton; brother Michael (Lynn) Amsbury; grandchildren Amber Livingston, Caitlin Livingston, Brianna Deason, Kalee Dayton, Tyresse Dayton, Rayyon Dayton, Nyeki Dayton, and Zhyion Dayton; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Stan and Rose Amsbury; sisters Betty June and Margurite; and brother Clifford.

He is remembered by his grandchildren as not missing out on any of their events. Rain or shine, he was there.

A Potluck celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Aberdeen Avenue Baptist Church, 2733 Aberdeen Ave., Aberdeen.
