Dorothy Ann (Cox) Brewer, age 85, a resident of Aberdeen, died on Jan. 22, 2023, at Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital in Aberdeen. Mrs. Brewer was born on Oct. 29, 1937, in the Hoquiam General Hospital to Alvin and Mary Ann (Donovick) Dick.

She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1955 and shortly thereafter, was married to David Cox. After attending business school, she began working as a secretary for Hoquiam Veneer, then as a bookkeeper for Al Dick Trucking, Inc.

Dorothy loved family and would rarely miss a sport event or school function in which her children and grandchildren participated. She would volunteer many hours in school functions. She is remembered as a kind person, who was big-hearted and who wouldn’t say a bad word about anyone.

She is survived by two sons, David and his wife Terry Cox of Hoquiam and Thomas Cox of Blaine, Washington; five grandchildren: D.J., Jade, Jordan, Thomas and Tatum Cox; a brother, Al Dick of Hoquiam and a brother-in-law, Paul Metke of Aberdeen. She was preceded by her husband Walter Brewer in September of 2022, and two sisters, Phyllis Miller and Suellen Metke.

A funeral mass was celebrated at noon on Monday, Jan.30, 2023, at Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church.

A vault interment followed at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
