Donald “Don” Lee Walkowski, 79, a longtime resident of Ocosta, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023.

Donald “Don” Lee Walkowski, 79, a longtime resident of Ocosta, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington.

Don was born on Nov. 25, 1943, to parents Alvin and Ethel (Pope) Walkowski in Bremerton, Washington. The family moved to Tokeland then Ocosta, Washington, where Don attended and graduated from Ocosta High School. He went on to graduate from Grays Harbor College, then moved to Hawaii working in a pineapple factory prior to being drafted into the Army.

He spent a few years in the military, stationed in Vietnam and Virginia. After release from the military, he moved back to Honolulu, Hawaii and began a career as a boiler engineer on the naval base of Pearl Harbor. He spent over 30 years on the base before retiring.

Upon retirement Don moved back to Ocosta to be with family and where he resided until his passing.

Don loved to play golf, hunt and fish and was a Tribal member of the Quinault Indian Nation.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Ethel Walkowski, two brothers, Alvin and Ivan Walkowski, and two brothers-in-law: John Persson and Paul Hines.

Don is survived by his sisters Laura Persson of Ocosta, Washington and Barbara Hines of Longview, Washington; several nieces and nephews, as well as many other family and friends whom Don cared for and loved.

Private family services were held.
