Skylar Overton, Lisa Walker, Glean ‘Ray’ Riffe, Ronald Matthynssens

Skylar Overton

Aberdeen resident Skylar Whitney Overton, a former independent musical artist, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at home. He was 42.

A service will be held in Seaside, California in February. Arrangements are by Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Lisa E. Walker

Lisa Ellen Walker, a lifetime resident of Hoquiam, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at home. She was 59.

She began working as a server at Duffy’s, had cleaned houses preparing them for sale and later was checker for both the Hoquiam and Southside Swansons.

A memorial service is being planned and will be announced later. Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

Glean ‘Ray’ Riffe

Glean “Ray” Riffe died Friday, Jan. 26, 2024 at home. He was 83.

He had served in the U. S. Marine Corps, then worked for Hoquiam Plywood from 1962 to 1981. Later he moved to Ohio where he drove truck for an additional 20 years before retiring and returning to Hoquiam.

An urn committal service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

Ronald R. Matthynssens

Hoquiam resident Ronald Ray Matthynssens died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at his home in Central Park. He was 60.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army and was still working as a custodian with the Hoquiam School District at the time of his death.

A celebration of his life with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, Immanuel Baptist Church in Hoquiam followed by a time of fellowship. A full obituary will be printed in The Daily World on Wednesday. Cremation arrangements are by Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
