Claire Lucille McDougall died on January 29th, 2024 at Grays Harbor Health and Rehab, in Aberdeen, Washington. She was 93. Claire was born July 9th, 1930 in Hoquiam to Burdick Newton Johnston and Emily Caroline (Williams) Johnston. She attended Newton School and Hoquiam High School.

She worked at Grays Harbor Chair Factory, ABC Janitorial, and the Homespun Shop. On April 16th, 1949 Claire married Warren McDougall in Aberdeen. Warren died in 2023, they were together for 74 years. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and helped around the Pioneer Park ballpark while her son played baseball. She loved garage sales, knitting, and sewing her own clothes. She loved walking and could often be seen walking from their house from Bench Drive to McDonald’s with her husband Warren. She also loved restoring antique furniture. She liked going to local casinos and made many trips to Reno.

Clair is survived by two sons, Michal (Ellen) McDougall of Lake Stevens, Washington, and Gregory (Kristi) McDougall of Hoquiam, Washington; 2 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Isabelle Johnston of Sequim, Washington, Shirley Bochenski of Olympia, Washington, and brother Burdick Johnston III of Wenatchee, Washington. She was preceded in death by sisters Dr. Louise Zaidi, Rose Thomas, Ruth Watson and Bernice Perry, and brother Edward Johnston.

Claire suffered from Dementia and spent the last years of her life at Grays Harbor Health and Rehab. Her family would like to thank the staff there for their loving care and compassion.
