Abriel Canter Lee VanBlaricom was born on August 31, 1975, in South Bend, WA and made her way to her heavenly home, with her husband by her side at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, CA on April 24, 2022.

Abby is survived by her husband, Darrin VanBlaricom and his daughter, Emily; her mother, Chris Lee, of Raymond; and her brother Aaron (Jai) Strozyk, of Bellingham. In addition, Abby is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, who will miss her dearly. Abby also leaves behind her kids Onyx, Wally, Oliver and Stan at the family home.

Abby’s father, Ron Lee, preceded her in death, as well as her grandparents Rex and Eleanor Gray, and Ralph and Lonnie Lee. Abby attended Raymond Elementary and High School and graduated from CLOC, Alternative School, in Raymond. She attended I.T.T. Technical College in Bellevue and studied Computer Aided Drafting (CAD Program). She also worked for the Ballard City Park, as a landscaper. This job started her love of plants, gardening and contributed to her “green thumb.”

Abby spent many years, from her childhood into her adulthood working at the Boondocks, her family’s restaurant. She made many lifelong friends during these years. Abby loved gardening, many types of arts & crafts, singing, dancing, camping, calling bingo, mushroom picking, canning, and playing adult dress-up.

She adored each one of her friends and loved them just the way they were. Abby was known for her optimism, never-ending smile, and her contagious laugh.

Abby married Darrin VanBlaricom in a private ceremony, on July 25, 2016, in Juneau, Alaska, while on a cruise to the inside passage of Alaska. Abby made all the plans to make their day unforgettable and a trip of a lifetime. They made their home on Rue Creek where they purchased a home with 10 acres and Rue Creek running through the back of the property.

Together Abby and Darrin developed the 10 acres into a beautiful Rue Creek Park, where they hosted many girl’s campouts, BBQs, their wedding reception and many get-togethers, enjoying the company of family and friends.

Later this summer, on August 27, 2022, at 2 p.m., we will be honoring Abby’s amazing life with a grand celebration, on their property at 482 Rue Creek Road, Raymond, WA.

In lieu of flowers, and honoring Abby’s love of animals, please make donations in Abby’s name to HAVA (Harbor Association of Volunteers for Animals) P.O. Box 243 Raymond, WA 98577.

Abby was a supporter of HAVA and adopted animals (kids) of her own.
