At about 1 p.m. Monday, East Grays Harbor Fire and Rescue was dispatched for an incident involving heavy paving machinery.

Crews were advised that there were two patients possibly trapped under the machine, and that CPR instructions were being given over the phone. While enroute, Medic 52 requested an additional medic unit from Montesano Fire Department, as well as a rescue unit from Grays Harbor Fire District 2.

Prior to arrival, responders were informed that both of the patients had been extricated from under the machine. First arriving crews quickly assessed and began treating both patients until more resources arrived.

Airlift Northwest was launched, and transported one patient to Harborview Medical Center. The second patient was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
