Two people shot in Aberdeen early Sunday

Two people were shot during an altercation in Aberdeen early Sunday morning, and three people have since been arrested under suspicion of robbery.

According to a press release from the Aberdeen Police Department, officers were dispatched at 4:10 a.m. Sunday to a report of two people shot in the area of the 1000 block of Ash Street. The release says the Aberdeen officers found a 21-year-old Hoquiam woman and a 26-year-old Hoquiam man who had been shot in the backyard of a residence there.

While the Aberdeen officers investigated the scene, Hoquiam police officers located the suspect vehicle as it drove west on Cherry Street in Hoquiam. The officers attempted to stop the car and a subject in a passenger seat fled the vehicle on foot.

Another suspect was in the car’s trunk, according to Aberdeen Lt. Dale Green.

A police K9 unit from the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office responded along with a Cosmopolis police officer and other sheriff’s deputies. Three males — a 39-year-old Hoquiam resident, a 29-year-old Aberdeen resident and a 34-year-old Aberdeen man — were arrested for investigation of first-degree robbery.

The shooting victims were treated at the scene by Aberdeen Fire Department paramedics and transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Aberdeen Police detectives processed the suspect vehicle and are currently processing the crime scene and residence for evidence. A Washington State Patrol narcotics police K9 assisted Aberdeen detectives in their evidence searches.

Green said Monday that police are still unsure what the suspects’ intent was at the residence and that the suspects are still being interviewed.
