Two injured Saturday in 101 head-on wreck

Two people were injured in a head-on collision on Highway 101 and State Route 107 south of Cosmopolis on Saturday morning.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a 35-year-old Raymond man was northbound on 101 when the vehicle lost traction on roadway, made slick by the first real measurable rain the region had seen in weeks.

The Raymond man’s vehicle lost traction, and he over-corrected into the southbound lane, striking a southbound vehicle driven by a 76-year-old Hoquiam man at around 9:16 a.m.

Both drivers were injured. The Raymond man was not transported, but the Hoquiam man was taken to Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital in Raymond for undisclosed injuries.

The State Patrol cited the cause of the crash as speed too fast for conditions.
