Transit ridership way down, buses go on reduced service

Grays Harbor Transit announced Thursday that because riders are following orders to stay home whenever possible, ridership is down by about 67% and beginning Monday, the agency will reduce service and go on a weekend schedule fulltime for the time being.

The service will still be free until further notice and social distancing guidelines will be enforced on all buses.

That means when the destination sign reads “This Bus is Full,” the passengers trying to board the bus will need to wait for the next bus. The agency said it will start to reinstate its full services as soon as possible, once the danger from the pandemic is diminished.
