Train strikes empty car on tracks near Montesano

The car had come to rest on the tracks after striking a telephone pole

A Puget Sound & Pacific Railroad train struck an empty vehicle early Monday morning near Montesano, according to a spokesperson for the railroad.

The vehicle was on the tracks after hitting a telephone pole, said Tom Ciuba, vice president of communications for Genesee & Wyoming Inc., PSAP’s parent company.

There were no injuries, no derailment, and no damage to the train, Ciuba said.

The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
