Green Crab Molt Search

This training, conducted by Sea Grant, will teach any interested volunteer how to conduct surveys of green crab molts in Ocean Shores. This relatively new community science program, called Molt Search, is a great way to get outdoors and help gather essential information as the state of Washington works to control this invasive species.
Intro to Eelgrass Fieldtrip

DNR Fieldsite
Registration is required. Free for all.
Visit a Washington Department of Natural Resources field site to learn from experts how eelgrass fields are measured and how that information is used to learn about the Grays Harbor Estuary water quality (e.g. water acidity) and marine habitat.
Beached Bird Survey
Noon, May 3
CIC Museum
Registration is required. Free for all.
Conducted by the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team, this training will go over how citizen scientists in the program monitor for bird mortality (called “beached birds”). After the training, volunteers will be prepared to strike out on their own to survey a beach once a month and identify beached birds.
