South Bend man dies in motorcycle crash near Bone River

A South Bend man died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 101 about eight miles south of South Bend Wednesday afternoon, according to a statement by the Washington State Patrol.

Alexander Shine, 44, of South Bend was reportedly driving a black 1992 Yamaha XJ600 motorcycle southbound on 101 near Bone River “at a high rate of speed” shortly before 3 p.m. when the bike left the road to the right and struck a guardrail, according to the State Patrol. Shine was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was blocked for the investigation for about 3 hours and 15 minutes, according to the State Patrol. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
