Sierra Pacific grant will provide wildland firefighting gear to Aberdeen Fire Department

The Aberdeen Fire Department received a $2,100 grant from the Sierra Pacific Foundation for the purchase of wildland firefighting protective equipment, Chief Tom Hubbard announced Friday.

“The firefighting equipment will provide enhanced protection for our personnel when engaged in prolonged fire suppression activities involving timber, brush, and grass fires,” said Hubbard.

“The Aberdeen Department deeply values and appreciates the ongoing support we have received from the Sierra Pacific Foundation, specifically Carolyn Emmerson Dietz, President, and Lisa Perry, Community Relations Manager for Sierra Pacific Industries.”

The grant will be used to purchase personal protective firefighter gear specifically designed for use in wildland fire situations.
