Due to the damage by a New Year’s Eve storm, the Quinault South Shore Road along Lake Quinault continues to degrade.

The erosion has crossed over both lanes, making the road impassable. The washout now measures 40-feet-wide by 125-feet-long. Barriers are now set back to the nearest turnaround area with a row of boulders in front of the washout in the eastbound direction.

The county is also dealing with a wash-out at the Hoh Road and funds are tight. Jefferson County and WSDOT applied for disaster designation for the repair funding. It is up to the governor to make the final decision.
