Prepare for frigid conditions this week

Temperatures could drop into the teens each night through midweek

The National Weather Service in Seattle is forecasting severely cold temperatures this week. Daytime temperatures will struggle to rise above the freezing mark in all areas of the county. The coast will see night time temperatures in the mid to upper 20s all week. North and East County will see night time temperatures fall into the mid to upper teens each night through mid-week. Days will be sunny and clear.

“Black ice and freezing fog will continue to be a hazard during periods of darkness into the morning hours this week,” warns Chuck Wallace, Grays Harbor County Emergency Management Assistant Director. “Please use extreme caution while driving.”

Wallace offers some tips to keep yourself, your animals and your community members safe and warm during this cold snap.

“Please check on your friends and neighbors who may need assistance during the cold weather. Consider helping area shelters through donations to assist the vulnerable and homeless populations in our region. Do not leave pets or livestock outdoors during the extremely cold temperatures this week. Be sure to insulate any outdoor water fixtures as the frigid night time temperatures can create issues with broken water lines in and around your home.”
