A warning sign is posted beside Vance Creek County Park Pond No. 2 this month south of Elma. Similar warnings will be seen around fresh water in Ocean Shores. On Friday, the county issued a warning about the presence of blue-green algae in fresh water in and around the city. The algae can make people sick or be fatal to animals, including pets.
