Grays Harbor Raceway names new director
Lee St Paul will be the new race director in 2025 at Grays Harbor Raceway.
St Paul is a third generation racer. His family has a long history of racing in the Northwest and he brings a lot of experience with him. St Paul raced for over 20 years in flat track, hobby stocks, Northwest focus midgets and cage karts.
After racing St Paul flagged for CKA, co-founded Pacific Wing Outlaws, I-5 QMA tech, Salem Indoor staff, and most recently was the lead tech at Grays Harbor Raceway.
St Paul said “he is excited to take over as race director and get this season started and have a successful season at Grays Harbor Raceway.”
Bert Johnson, general manager at Grays Harbor Raceway, has observed St Paul over the last few years.
“He will make a very good race director for Grays Harbor Raceway,” Johnson said.
The season gets started with Playday on April 12 and Opening Night is April 19 featuring IMCA Modifieds, 360 Sprint Cars, Limited 360 Sprints and Northwest Focus Midgets.

Grays Harbor Community Foundation awards $507K
The Grays Harbor Community Foundation invests $507,486 into our community through the 2025 First Cycle Community Building Grants program.
Twenty-three organizations were awarded funding with projects ranging from youth sports, to food programs for Grays Harbor residents. This cycle proved to be the largest number of grant requests since the inception of the Foundation.
Projects were awarded from the following funds held at the Grays Harbor Community Foundation; The Weatherwax Family Fund, Dorothy Hoogevan Fund, Marian J. Weatherwax Fund and Warren Family Fund.

Executive Director Eric Potts said, “With the start of a new year, we plan to award over $4 million in 2025 to deserving Grays Harbor organizations. … Thanks to the gracious support of our donors who are invested in seeing Grays Harbor thrive, the Foundation has grown to over $110 million in assets that will support a wide variety of causes in our community for many years to come.”

Ocean Shores flushes hydrants
The city of Ocean Shores Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants in the south east area of the city in March.
Work will be conducted on the following dates and locations:
March 11-12 — from Marine View Dr. SW to Sportsmens St. SW
March 25-26 — from Sportsmens St. SW to E Ocean Shores Blvd.
It is common for flushing activities to stir up sediment in the water lines surrounding the work areas. The city recommends that you do not use hot water during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the days shown above. If you experience discoloration of your water, please run the cold water tap for a few minutes until it clears. If you must use hot water during flushing operations, we strongly recommend flushing your hot water tank after operations are complete.

Willapa Harbor Hospital meetings
Community information meetings around the new healthcare facility will be going on the second week of March.
What will a new health care facility cost the taxpayers? With the lower bond amount the average taxpayer (based on the average property value for North Pacific County of $350,000) will be $37.92 a month. This is less than $10 a week.
You will also be eligible to get this amount credited off of your hospital or clinic bill.

Thursday March 13 — Frances Catholic Church
Wednesday March 19 — Raymond High School Library
Thursday March 20 — Shoalwater Tribal Center

Pacific County Emergency Management Agency hosts wildfire meetings
The Pacific County Emergency Management Agency will be hosting four public forums regarding the DRAFT Pacific County Community Wildfire Prevention Plan.
The first two forums will be held on March 10, in Raymond at the Pacific County PUD #2 Auditorium, located at 405 Duryea St. The first forum will begin at 2 p.m. The second forum will begin at 6:30 p.m.
There will also be two forums held on Tuesday March 11, at the Pacific County Administration Facility, 7013 Sandridge Road, Long Beach. The first will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the second will begin at 6:30 p.m. Public comment will then be accepted through March 25.
