The Polson Museum’s 14th annual Red Car Raffle drawing took place Saturday at 1 p.m. in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the museum in Hoquiam. Five-year-old Emma Bronson drew the winning tickets.
Josh Welch of Hoquiam won the grand prize, a 2019 “Race Red” Ford Mustang. Though he wasn’t present for the drawing, he scooted right over to the museum with his wife, Tessica, and their daughter, Keeley, when he received the phone call from museum director John Larson.
“I can best describe Josh as being in a state of shock at receiving the good news that he now owns a new Mustang,” said Larson.
After receiving congratulations from the crowd, the Welches drove home in their new car.
Second prize, a gift certificate to the Westport Winery, went to Jim Boatman of Roslyn. Third prize, an Amazon Echo Plus smart speaker, went to Sandy Glazek of Aberdeen.
Several attendees took home Ford hats and Mustang posters as door prizes, compliments of Five Star Ford.
All of the 3,000 tickets, at $20 apiece, were sold out by Dec. 21, grossing $60,000. The net proceeds — about $30,000 — will be used to support the museum’s general operating budget.
