GHC to hold auditions for winter musical ‘Company’

The Theatre Arts Department at Grays Harbor College is holding auditions for its winter production “Company.”

Auditions will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. in the Music Pavilion Rehearsal Hall on Grays Harbor College’s Aberdeen campus. Everyone will sing a short portion of the opening song “Company” and perform a short dance routine.

The department will teach you the song and dance at the audition, but you can prepare by learning the selection in advance:

Selection cued up to 0:42 “Bobby come on over for dinner …” at youtu.be/iPPld5oWQRs?t=42. Stop at 1:06 “we looooooove you.”

About the show

On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor Robert contemplates his unmarried state. Over the course of a series of dinners, drinks and even a wedding, Bobby’s friends share the pros and cons of taking on a spouse, forcing him to question remaining single.

Stephen Sondheim’s Company is largely regarded as a trailblazer of the dark-comedy, modern-musical genre, and features a brilliantly brisk and energetic score containing many of the composer’s best-known songs.

Rehearsals

Jan. 2 through March 1

Expect three to four weeknights and most Saturdays, but not everyone will be needed for every rehearsal until Jan. 30.

Show dates

First two weekends in March
