A Flood Watch remains in effect through Thursday afternoon for the cities of Aberdeen and Hoquiam according to the National Weather Service Seattle.
Flooding is caused from the excessive rainfall from the last few days. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, including extensive street flooding.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
The Chehalis River at Porter is forecast to crest just below minor flood stage of 48 feet on Thursday at about 4 p.m. Still, high tides can impact Aberdeen and Hoquiam.
While rain has ended, previous rainfall from the last few days was forecast to drive the Chehalis River above flood stage — 141 feet — at Grand Mound Wednesday afternoon.
At 141 feet, the Chehalis River in Thurston County will flood several roads in Independence Valley including James Road, Independence Road and Moon road. Flood waters will also cover nearby farm lands.
The river was forecast to fall below flood stage Wednesday evening and down to 135 feet late Saturday evening.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
Raymond antenna tower collapses
The Pacific County Emergency Management Agency reported that on Monday evening during the windstorm a commercial antenna tower collapsed on Holy Cross, northwest of Raymond. This collapse impacted cellular communications for Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.
Pacific County Emergency Management Agency has spoken to representatives from AT&T and T-Mobile, and are waiting to hear back from Verizon, according to a news release on Wednesday afternoon. According to reports from the public, T-Mobile has been the most severely impacted carrier, with virtually no service in the Raymond South Bend area.
In spite of the loss of service, T-Mobile customers should still be able to dial 911 in the event of a life-threatening emergency. Steps are being taken to address these issues. T-Mobile service remains unaffected in other parts of the county.
