Dragon Café opens at Harbor Learning Center

Students at the Aberdeen School District’s Harbor Learning Center celebrated the grand opening of the Dragon Café.

“We are so excited to have a student store this year,” Principal Lisa Griebel said.

She praised the work of CTE instructor Tammy Heth, “who has been doing an amazing job getting it ready with the help of our students and the support from our CTE Director Lynn Green.”

Director Green agreed. “Ms. Heth definitely has a gift in this area,” she said.

The CTE programs in the district are enriched by our community partners. In this case, the students received industry training as baristas and mixologists thanks to onsite visits from professionals at Batdorf and Bronson and Dutch Bros. coffee roasters.

The Harbor Learning Center had a café prior to the pandemic, but Director Green explained that this new version is “definitely more robust. It’s new and expanded. They’re selling menu items and apparel in addition to coffee, Italian sodas and other beverages.”

Director Green also praised the work of the ASD5 Maintenance crew.

“There was a lot that needed to be built and put into place to create the setup in the space that we have,” she said.
