Person of interest interviewed in Hoquiam fires

Two suspicious fires on Karr and Emerson avenues on Oct. 30, and a third on Simpson Avenue on Oct. 3, led to an investigation by the Hoquiam fire and police departments. The Karr and Emerson blazes were discovered within minutes of each other, just a block apart. All three fires included vacant homes and shared other similar characteristics.

On Thursday, Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers said, “We interviewed a person of interest, but (there is) nothing additional at this time. The case is still open.”

Too much drug stuff

A man standing in front of the Aberdeen AM/PM Wednesday evening, who was known to police, was found to have a Dept. of Corrections felony warrant. An Aberdeen Police officer placed the 26-year old under arrest for the warrant and arranged a hold with Hoquiam Jail. Upon searching the man a hypodermic needle was found, along with other needles and a spoon with residue on the underside. The man was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
