This is a breaking story; the Daily World will update it as more information becomes available

A teenager was hit in a motor vehicle crash near the Grays Harbor YMCA early Friday evening. The collision occurred at 6:42 p.m., said Sgt. Dave Blundred of the Hoquiam Police Department.

The 12-year-old was transported to the hospital with injuries, though speaking and cognizant, Blundred said.

“The collision investigation is ongoing,” Blundred said. “The teenager was transported to community hospital for further evaluation.”

The driver was a 23-year-old female Hoquiam resident, Blundred said, driving a maroon Honda sedan. There were two occupants in the vehicle at the time of the collision, Blundred said. It’s still too early in the investigation to say if alcohol contributed to the crash, Blundred said.

“We’re still in the midst of it,” Blundred said.
