Ballot measure to dissolve South Beach fire districts explained

Residents of the North Cove, Ocosta and Tokeland areas may find a ballot measure in February to dissolve the local fire district.

This will not affect your local fire and EMS services, which have been provided through the formation of the South Beach Regional Fire Authority since October 2017.

A statement from the fire authority said, “Each geographical area within the Regional Fire Authority — Westport, rural Westport, Ocosta, Grayland, North Cove, and Tokeland — will still retain a representative who represents the people of those areas.”

The measure will on the Feb. 9 special election ballot. If you have any questions regarding this ballot measure, you can call the South Beach Regional Fire Authority office at 360-268-9832.
