Aberdeen man arrested for assaulting mother

A 27-year-old Aberdeen man was arrested for assaulting his 55-year old mother Friday night at their house in the 300 block of Conger Street in West Aberdeen. The Aberdeen police said they were called to the house just after 6 p.m. and found the woman with “substantial visible injuries”.

The woman said her son had assaulted her before leaving the residence on foot, according to police. Based probable cause for felony assault, a K-9 team began a track of the suspect, police said. The suspect, found hiding in a fenced-in back yard, was reported to have knives on him and refused to cooperate with orders to show his hands, according to police.

After the suspect refused to comply with repeated orders to follow directions and show his hands, the police dog “Ronin” was used to bring the suspect out from his hiding place, police said. The suspect was taken into custody with minor injuries that were checked by paramedics, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
