Aberdeen Fourth Ward council member wanted

Filling Kathi Hoder’s spot

The Aberdeen City Council is calling for people to apply for a vacancy on the City Council for the Fourth Ward. Longtime Council member Kathi Hoder announced last month that she had purchased a home in Hoquiam and resigned because she wouldn’t be living in Aberdeen.

Residents interested in the council opening are asked to write a letter of intent and submit it to Mayor Erik Larson. Email it to mayor@aberdeenwa.gov or drop it off at City Hall by Dec. 31.

Content in such a letter should serve as an introduction to the city council members and explanation of why the candidate wants to serve the city of Aberdeen.

The council will take up the matter during their first meeting in 2017, tentatively scheduled on Jan. 11. Candidates will communicate with the council members during this meeting and the council might choose someone that evening or soon after.

Those interested in being considered must live in the Fourth Ward. A map showing what part of the city is within the word is online at http://aberdeenwa.gov/council/images/map_4.gif
