Aberdeen firefighters responds to car fire

The car is terribly damaged, but no one was hurt

The Aberdeen Fire Department responded on Monday morning to an automobile that caught fire south of town on state Route 105.

No injuries occurred to the driver or firefighters, said Battalion Chief Kelly Niemi.

“The occupant noticed that the car was smoking, pulled over and called 911,” Niemi said in a phone interview. “The call came in as a car fire. The first engine got onto the scene of a fully engulfed 2015 Camaro Z28.”

The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes, Niemi said, with no complications. It was handed off to police and towed from the scene shortly afterwards, Niemi said.

“We do a fair share of car fires,” Niemi said. “I would say it’s totaled.”
