‘Magic Flute’ auditions set

The heroic Prince Tamino searches for the Princess Pamina in an enchanted world where music holds wondrous power. Light triumphs over darkness and love conquers all in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s witty and moving fairy tale opera.

Director Ian Dorsch is holding auditions for these roles. Singers of high school age and older will be considered for most of these parts; the Child-Spirits may be as young as 12.

• Tamino (tenor)

• Papageno (baritone)

• Papagena (soprano)

• Three ladies (soprano/mezzo-soprano)

• Monostatos (tenor)

• Three child-spirits (treble/soprano/mezzo-soprano)

• Speaker of the temple (bass-baritone)

• Two armored men (tenor, baritone)

• Three priests (speaking roles)

• Three slaves (speaking roles)

• Many chorus members (all parts)

Anyone interested should be at GHC’s Wellington Rehearsal Hall at 6:30 p.m. Singers are asked to prepare an appropriate art song or aria, or one of the audition pieces listed on the Opera Workshop’s public Facebook page: facebook.com/GHCOpera.

Performances of “The Magic Flute” will be staged Jan. 12 and 13 at the Bishop Center for the Performing Arts.
