A steel memorial was erected last month on Third Street in Raymond to honor lifelong resident Larry Sinclair.

Sinclair was born Aug. 9, 1962, to Bentley J. and Ruby E. Sinclair. He died in October 2016 at the Willapa Harbor Hospital in South Bend. He was 54.

Sinclair was a proud member of the Raymond Elks Lodge 1292 and the Raymond Eagles, and was a past president of the Willapa Harbor Lions. He also was a member of the Willapa Harbor Jaycees and an honorary member of their 1982 Guinness Book of World Records softball marathon team.

Sinclair was extremely civic-minded. It was not uncommon for him to volunteer his time to the aforementioned organizations.

The plaque on the memorial reads: “Larry Sinclair. Sometimes it takes a village to raise a child. Sometimes you get back more than you give. Thank you Larry.” The statue was donated by the Willapa Harbor Lions and the Raymond Elks to honor a hardworking and dedicated member of their clubs and of the city.
