Longtime Harborites Edward and Shari Kantor, now of Troy, Alabama, are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this week.

Edward Michael Kantor and Shari Ann Mekosky were married Sept. 4, 1959, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen.

Both were born and raised on the Harbor, graduating from Weatherwax High School in 1955, Grays Harbor College in 1957 and Central Washington University in 1959.

Edward is professor emeritus of physical science at Troy University, where he taught for 34 years.

Shari worked at Wiitamaki Jewelry Store, as a teacher, and later as assistant director and reference librarian at the Troy Public Library.

The Kantors have two daughters: Lisa Hart of Austin, Texas, and Greta Nash of Gurnee, Illinois. They also have seven grandchildren.
