Excellent Veterans Day concert

Kudos to HHS music director

It was my distinct pleasure to attend Hoquiam High School’s Veterans Day Concert, at the historic 7th St. Theatre.

It was the most inspiring, uplifting, enjoyable high school performance I have ever attended, and being a retired teacher, I have attend hundreds.

Hometown pride and love of country was certainly in evidence.

As a veteran and HHS graduate it made my heart swell with pride.

What really struck me was how the HHS Music Director Susan Peters managed the entire program all by herself. She directed the high school and middle school choir, the band, the jazz band and accompanied some of the vocal acts.

When I attended HHS in the ’50s we had a paid band director, orchestra director and choir director for both junior high and high school. This lady is a one person band. What a bargain!

I might add the quality of the music in this performance was much superior to what we had back in the ’50s.

I would like to publicly thank, and congratulate, Ms. Peters, and her students, for an outstanding performance and a job well done.
