Dispose of plastic bags properly

Too many times I have observed plastic bags blowing out of the backs of pickup trucks and frequently from LeMay’s garbage trucks when they empty trash from the roadside barrels. If people would be more careful of where they put those bags, and if folks would dispose of the grocery bags properly by making sure they are securely inside tied-up trash bags, we would not have so much plastic waste in our oceans. When these bags fly out of those trucks, they keep on going until most of them end up in the water.

Safeway provides a recycling bin for us to dispose of our plastic bags. Even better, we can take our own reusable bags for groceries so plastic bags aren’t necessary. It may be disputable whether humans cause global warming, but there is no doubt humans are responsible for the huge garbage gyres in our oceans.

We all need to do our part to clean up our messes for the sake of future generations.
