GIRLS PREP GOLF

Elma 194, Montesano 209

Elma defeated Montesano 194-209 in a girls golf match on Tuesday at the Oaksridge Golf Course in Elma.

Elma was led by standout Olivia Moore, who won Medalist of the Match honors with a score of 25 for her 9-hole round.

Joining Moore in Elma’s top four were Sophia Hamilton (45), eighth-grader Kyla Rudy (55) and Amaya Lewis (59).

“Proud of our girls tonight. We had four first-year players who are learning the ropes as they go,” Elma head coach Alexis Keating said. “Several players had their match personal records today. It was a great way to start the next few weeks of matches.”

Montesano was led by Maggie Kupka, who shot a 45 on Tuesday.

Elma (194) – Olivia Moore 35, Sophia Hamilton 45, Kyla Rudy 55, Amaya Lewis 59.

Montesano (209) – Maggie Kupka 45; Jessie LaLonde 51; Lucy Scott 54; Rory Gourdin 59.

PREP TENNIS

Tumwater 5, Aberdeen 1

Aberdeen lost five of six varsity matches to Tumwater on Tuesday in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen’s lone win came from its top singles player, sophomore Sophie Knutson, who defeated Chloe Henderson 6-3, 6-0.

“While the score reads lopsided, all the matches were incredibly competitive today, and I am impressed with the improvement I saw across the board after making a few tweaks from yesterday,” Aberdeen head coach Ashley Kohlmeier said. “We have a young, hungry team and I am impressed with their ability to take feedback and implement it on the court.”

Aberdeen hosts Shelton at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Singles: Sophie Knutson (Aberdeen) defeated Chloe Henderson (Tumwater) 6-3, 6-0. Sarah Kim (T) def. Madi Ritter (A) 6-2, 6-4. Adela Schmiedeberg (T) def. Kensie Ervin (A) 6-2, 6-0.
