One arrested following domestic violence incident

The Aberdeen Police Department arrested a 51-year-old Aberdeen resident Tuesday afternoon after he threatened a woman with a firearm.

William Harrison Blevins, 51, was booked into county jail Wednesday morning on a second-degree assault domestic violence charge, according to the county website.

At approximately 4:33 p.m., Aberdeen officers responded to a 911 open-line call from a South Aberdeen residence where a woman could be heard screaming about a gun in the background, according to a police news release.

The woman, identified in the news release as the suspect’s ex-wife, met officers outside as they arrived and reported that her ex-husband had come to her residence, threatened her and himself with the firearm, and was currently inside the residence.

Officers cordoned off the area and contacted the suspect, asking him to come out, according to the news release; the suspect complied and was taken into custody. Officers investigating the residence located a small-caliber handgun hidden inside a couch cushion.

The suspect was transported to the Aberdeen city jail and interviewed before being transported to county jail.
