Kenneth C. Meinke passed away on Sept. 21, 2022, at the age of 99. He was raised in Chicago.
He joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served in World War II.
He met his future wife, Mary, in Washington where they opened up two cafes. Years later he retired from Hoquiam Plywood.
He was active in his churches with choir/drama, food bank and maintenance. He enjoyed travel, Westerns, history, pinochle and chocolate.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years. He leaves behind two daughters: Pamela Meinke and Debbie (Bruce) Jakola, two grandchildren: Kailey (Mitchell) Anderson and Josh (Mackenzie) Jakola, and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the Poulsbo Library community room on Monday Nov. 14 at 12:30 p.m., 700 N.E. Lincoln Road, Poulsbo, Washington.
