Aberdeen fire, along with Hoquiam fire, Cosmopolis fire and Grays Harbor Fire District 2, responded to a second-alarm house fire Thursday, shortly before noon, in the 200 block of A Street in Cosmopolis.

No injuries were reported, but family members were distraught as they believed a puppy was trapped inside the burning house. One family member came running to the scene, and tried to run into the burning building, shouting “I need to get my puppy out,” but was restrained by Aberdeen police.

Eventually, the puppy was brought out, given oxygen and taken to a veterinarian. Three other dogs and two cats had already been rescued.

It appears the house will be a total loss.
